How to Make Homework More Fun

How to Make Homework More Fun

When kids have spent a whole day at school, the last thing they want to do when they get home is do their boring homework. That’s why it’s a good idea for you, as their parent, to help make homework more fun. A prep school in London have put together the following advice in case you’re wondering how on earth you can possibly make homework seem fun!

The simplest way to make homework sessions more enjoyable for your kids is just to be present. Whilst they’re doing their sums, you can sit by them and go through your emails. One reason why kids hate doing homework is because they don’t want to miss out on anything more exciting. However, if the two of you sit together and share a workspace, they will know they’re not missing anything. In addition, if your child has any questions about their homework, you will be right next to them and able to answer.

If working from home isn’t an option for you, you could consider inviting one of your child’s classmates round so that they can study together. They will be able to help each other and can have some leisure time once the homework is finished. The idea is to ensure that your child is not alone. Get them some snacks because they won’t be able to focus if they’re hungry.

You could make homework more fun by getting creative. Invest in some art supplies and coloured pens and allow your child to learn in a different way, rather than just sitting rigidly at a desk answering question after question. By engaging the senses, your child might actually be able to better retain the information they’re learning.

Make sure your kids have an awesome workspace that they’re excited to use, rather than sending them up to their bedroom alone. Google and other tech giants have funky office environments because it increases the productivity of their employees. Why not take a leaf out of their book? There’s sure to be plenty of inspiration online that you can use to help you with your interior design.
