GroEgg thermometer – Review

The GroEgg is a room thermometer from The Gro Company which was set up in 2000 bringing the GroBag to the UK, they have many brilliant products on offer and I, after noticing I had a bit of credit on my amazon account, decided to purchase one and try it out, I remember looking at them when we was expecting R but never actually got around to grabbing one.

The egg itself is roughly 4 1/2 inches tall so it sits perfectly on a bedside table and surprisingly considering its almost always plugged in and turned on, never gets hot which is always a big worry for me when it comes to plug in only electronic goods.

Currently in the UK its a bit warm (slight understatement) so at the moment the egg is glowing a rather angry shade of red, I did get a bit worried when the temperature did finally drop in the evenings but I was still greeted by a grumpy little red egg that perhaps I did something wrong with setting it up.. but over the course of the week we finally saw an orange.

I think its extremely safe to say I am looking forward to the autumn and winter to see it change into the other colors, But I find it amazing how inside can be a completely different temperature than outside, even with windows and fans going and I am secretly excited to see it hit higher temperatures.. considering how much i dislike those hotter months, there is something reassuring and fun watching the numbers go up and down, the older children will often sneak into our room in the mornings and comment on what color the egg is and what number its sitting at.

I am not one to pick up on baby gadget fads, but I am glad I decided to buy into this one, our bedroom is one of the hottest in the house and with the baby sleeping in there with us, its nice to know if she needs less layers as often I think its a lot cooler than it actually is. I sort of wish I had grabbed one when she was tiny.

How bright is it? – not that bright, its dim enough to sleep with it on and you cant really use it for a nightlight or a light to change nappies in the dark, I find the red glow soothing at night, but some have different light sensitivities and it may bother others..

I really recommend buying one next time you see one in the shops or online, I find it helps me relax knowing what the room temperature is before settling my little one down for her naps… and this is coming from a firm believer of going on instinct!

I will definitely update you on the other colors when autumn and winter rolls around, if they change much at all! even at winter our house is very warm thanks to being in sunlight throughout the day.

Until Next time.

I still think I need to get one of these, I cannot trust our thermostat in this house! I’m always worrying if my children are too hot or cold X

I’m the same haha, it is reassuring to be aware of It as sometimes I don’t notice the room temperature and feel comfortable even when it’s warm

We never needed one of these because our monitor tells us the temp! But I love how the colours indicate the temp and I have heard such good things about this ox

We’ve been using the gro egg since birth, we do tend to look at it less now he’s 13 months but it was a god send last summer!

I always loved the look of these! Our monitor shows us the temperature in the room our little one sleeps in so we’ve never needed to buy one 🙁

I had a basic thermometer but mainly went on instinct. We love our GroClock though, it is brilliant!
