Back to School – Summer Term.

Call me heartless all you like but I know my children very much enjoy school and I know that I like to have time away from them and enjoy some play time with the youngest (and actually not hear arguments for a change) so when the half term ends, and when the summer holidays end, I make myself a cup of tea and manage to drink it warm for a change!

I do enjoy having my eldest two home with me, but my goodness its a blessing when they finally return to school and their friends from 9 – 3, some relish in having the children off for a few weeks, not having to do the school run daily and be able to just lazy about and do nothing like sit down and ignore the housework because it will end up messy again straight away.. but for me, my favorite time is the school run, I love chatting to the children about what they hope to do at school for that week and they in turn tell me that they are excited for school dinners.. It’s never about what they might learn that’s for sure haha!

I enjoy kissing them goodbye at their classroom doors and walking away knowing they are in safe hands and they are having a blast seeing their friends again and doing things school children do, I get to go home, or head into town with my youngest and have some much-needed quality time with just me and my baby.

I am extremely blessed that my children enjoy school and are extremely proud of their high attendance record, K has worked so hard this year and has done about 16 months of improvement in the space of 6 months while A is completely coming out of her shell and is so bright, she has a drawing pad that she will write down everything she sees which is a big difference from how she was at the start of the year just scribbling down lines and ticks..

School is more than just learning and testing, some of my fondest memories are from the friends and adventures we got up to in school, all those teachers passing on their knowledge of subjects they so fondly take pride in telling, While I have learnt a lot more in subjects i find truly interesting outside of school but that’s purely expanding what I learnt.

This term is all about the final part of the year, full of fun like the sports day and the key stage 1 trip to the beach at the end of the month, it’s about waving goodbye to year 2 and Reception and excitement about meeting new teachers and learning new things along the way.

I’ll admit I didn’t enjoy school as much as my children do, I couldn’t wait to get away from the place, the people I liked but school in general.. I think that’s why I want my children to enjoy it.

and I think they enjoyed it today what with the puddles and rain!

Until next time

Polar opposite here. I love half term so much! I always miss El when she’s at school and feel like I never see her during term time. Luckily she loves the school she’s at so that makes it a little easier on me but I’d have loved to carry on home educating. She decided she wanted to go to mainstream school in year 1 though so that’s what we did.
My health visitor asked if Lily would be attending nursery soon and I was like nooooo! I want to keep her with me as long as I can haha!

Robin will go to preschool when she gets to three, it’s free so why not use it, plus they’ve all gone to our local preschool and they prepare them for primary, their first day back after the summer I do kinda miss them but I know they have far to much fun at school … Kai always greets me with a loving ‘do you have any money?’ So sweet hah

My little one isn’t old enough for school but is going to nursery soon and he loves it which makes me feel a whole lot better.

I always enjoyed the summer term the most when I was at school – it seems far more fun than the other terms! Glad to hear your little ones enjoy school, makes it so much easier when they do. I have to say, I have the same relief when mine goes to nursery. It’s only one morning when I’m home and he’s not but it’s a lovely calm time so I completely understand you!!

I can agree with you here about not liking school quite as much – I just didn’t LOVE it. My little one just started nursery and I’m revelling in the breaks while I go to work, your not alone here!

When Rory goes to the childminder it gives me such bad anxiety as he is so little but I do enjoy the time back to myself and I also enjoy having the chance to kiss him, it’s healthy!
