Those who follow me on twitter will be already aware of how much I love Burts Bees products, so when I saw on my Facebook that they had a limited edition lip balm I had to buy it and try it out and in my excitement I shared my package as soon as I got it on my twitter. (Don’t forget to follow too!!).
I love Burts Bees, I have been loving and using Burts Bee’s products since I discovered the Baby Bee range around the time of the birth of my first child back in 2010 in our local boots store, I have tried most of the products that I could locate in the UK from their Baby Bee range and further into the Mama Bee range but the one thing I have never tried has been their lip balms, which is one of their most popular products.
Burts Bee’s started their humble journey back in 1984 when Roxanne Quimby joined forces with a local bee farmer and honey supplier Burt Shavitz and started using the unwanted bees wax to make candles to sell at local craft fares and from there they grew into a fantastic company that is loved by many today and while Burt is no longer with us, his legacy is kept alive by the bees.
Now as you know, Bees are extremely important to the world, you can hate wasps but not the bees, and I have explained to my children many times of how you must look after them and make sure that when you have a garden to plant as many bee friendly flowers as possible to encourage them but sadly more and more are disappearing each year and no one seems to know why which is extremely sad (because as I said, bees are important) So Burts Bee’s, together with the British Beekeeper Association are asking us to spread awareness for the bees via the media of a selfie, a selfless selfie.. they pledge that for every selfie with flowers in they will plant 5,000!!! flowers and of course you can help their cause too by adding bee friendly flowers in your garden.
Which of course brings me to this limited edition lip balm, by buying one of these limited edition Coconut and Pear lip balms, they are planting once again 5,000 flowers, so thats 10,000 wild flowers if you participate in both (don’t forget to plant your own too!!)
The lip balm itself is lovely, I adore the smell and I am extremely picky when it comes to lip palms or hand creams so the fact that it smells lovely and is helping the bees I am happy, I saw it being advertised on my facebook feed and I jumped at the chance to try it out but having a mild allergy to honey I was slightly worried about using it but so far, no effects so that’s good.
I also took advantage of the two £1 offer that they offered and got a tube of body lotion and a tube of cleansing cream..
The body lotion is milk and honey and smells amazing, I have something similar in a larger scale (but in the Baby Bee range) and I use that daily but cannot fit it into my bag so now I have a handy sized tube for travel and the deep cleansing cream is Soap bark and chamomile, like everything it smells lovely,
I have never used cleansing cream up until now and I actually like, and as I said before because of my allergic reaction to honey, I am always a little dubious about using things that contain honey, but thankfully no horrible reactions… to be honest its a oral allergic reaction and I am not about to chow down on a lip balm and some creams… regardless of how delicious they smell!
All the ingredience are vegan friendly and the lip balm is made from 100% natural products and parts of the packaging is recyclable but I am not sure what parts
Would I recommend them: YES!! I always recommend Burts Bees products to everyone I meet, from their baby bee products and to now their lip balms, and when buying anything by Burts Bees you are of course helping out one of the most important creatures, the humble Bee..
Don’t forget to take your Selfless Selfie and share it on you social media’s using all the hashtags to help out with the campaign and if you have a garden plant as many bee friendly flowers as possible, I know when I finally have a garden of my own its going to be full of Lavender, all the houses outside my flat have lots of it in their gardens and every day when I go past on the school run, they are covered in happy bees collecting their nectar.

Here is my selfless Selfie … don’t judge!!
