We’ve all seen it, all over the newspapers and in the mum forums, Lush have this wonderful new body lotion which has a mix of lavender and oatmeal. its advertised as a ‘relaxing and dreamy’ lotion you put on after a bath. (you can find it here)

But is it worth its weight in gold? did it actually work?

Lavender has been used in many baby products in the past, it as antiseptic and anti inflammatory properties and is also used to help calm anxiety suffers, I myself use a lavender oil roll on that I apply to my chest before I go to bed.

I ran a few tests, I tried her with a bath and the body lotion, just the body lotion itself with no bath and obviously a control of no bath, no body lotion and this is what I found

The nights that I bathed and used the body lotion she was asleep before 7 oclock, our bed time is around half 6 in the evening, I try and keep her up later but shes set in her ways haha, When I try just the body lotion, she sleeps a little later but you can kind of tell that shes relaxing and of course when I do neither she us up yelling at us until 7:30..

BUT… I am not sure if its the lotion doing it or just the fact i’m taking the time to sit down and rub her belly and her feet, making her relax, shes always sleepy after a bath anyway So I know the main factor in that is just her having a nice bath..

I think its going to be a case of if it works for you, then it works, and I am still not sure if its worked for R, I know for me when I use it I am out for the count haha, but we are going to take any sleep she gets while using the body lotion as a good night, I will say however that the nights we use ‘Sleepy’ on R, she does go all the way through.

whether its the body lotion or her just growing up.. I don’t know.

Have you ever tried Sleepy? Would you try it knowing all the other stories from it.

Until next time

So once again I was sitting on my Facebook and I saw an advert for SassyBloom, which is a monthly subscription service for baby and child products, I had seen it before out and about but decided to finally try it out, I know many of these boxes can seem far to expensive but in the long run they do work out cheaper than going out and buying the product yourself..img_2945
Lets take a look at what I got in this months box

I love these!! I had been looking at something similar for a while but never actually got around buying them, these are make your own ice lolly molds and I think they are fantastic, that gives us something fun to do during the summer holidays.

As soon as I took this little elephant out of the books R dived for it, She loved it! its really soft and cuddly, I assume that its a she due to the name on the tag of Ezzy Elephant, but it could also be an Ebenezer as well as an Elisabeth, the brand is Suki Toys which is a British based company, always good when you know toys are local.. I don’t want to spend to long on that website or i’ll buy it all!

img_2948Sleep Tight, Teddy is a little interactive bedtime book by Annie Kubler, you stick your fingers through the hole and into teddys head.. (that sounded a lot less morbid in my head) to make ‘teddy’ move, I have given both of the books to my eldest two who are big book fans! they laughed away reading this one to their little sister.

img_2946The other book is called The Boy Who Ate Everything by Clemency Pearce, which is essentially about a boy who eats everything, including a tin of baked beans!!! and we all know what kind of trouble they can get you in haha.

and finally we have this lovely little tambourine by Halilit which is also another British based company with the simple goal of supplying children with fun bright musical instruments to make as much noise as humanly possible. I love how this looks and has been carried around all afternoon along with Ezzy, the bigger children have also enjoyed playing with the new toys too, entertaining their little sister while I got dinner on.

I actually like this one, I know I have a few boxes on the go but I am glad that I can now expand the children s books collection and give R lots more toys to enjoy as she grows, I think I will keep this one up as I can see it being used in the future, they also have a Kid box too for older children.

And I think you can tell I am pretty excited about the ice lolly maker and even more excited about the next box!

Until next time.

Those who follow me on twitter will be already aware of how much I love Burts Bees products, so when I saw on my Facebook that they had a limited edition lip balm I had to buy it and try it out and in my excitement I shared my package as soon as I got it on my twitter. (Don’t forget to follow too!!).

I love Burts Bees, I have been loving and using Burts Bee’s products since I discovered the Baby Bee range around the time of the birth of my first child back in 2010 in our local boots store, I have tried most of the products that I could locate in the UK from their Baby Bee range and further into the Mama Bee range but the one thing I have never tried has been their lip balms, which is one of their most popular products.

Burts Bee’s started their humble journey back in 1984 when Roxanne Quimby joined forces with a local bee farmer and honey supplier Burt Shavitz and started using the unwanted bees wax to make candles to sell at local craft fares and from there they grew into a fantastic company that is loved by many today and while Burt is no longer with us, his legacy is kept alive by the bees.

Now as you know, Bees are extremely important to the world, you can hate wasps but not the bees, and I have explained to my children many times of how you must look after them and make sure that when you have a garden to plant as many bee friendly flowers as possible to encourage them but sadly more and more are disappearing each year and no one seems to know why which is extremely sad (because as I said, bees are important) So Burts Bee’s, together with the British Beekeeper Association are asking us to spread awareness for the bees via the media of a selfie, a selfless selfie.. they pledge that for every selfie with flowers in they will plant 5,000!!! flowers and of course you can help their cause too by adding bee friendly flowers in your garden.

Which of course brings me to this limited edition lip balm, by buying one of these limited edition Coconut and Pear lip balms, they are planting once again 5,000 flowers, so thats 10,000 wild flowers if you participate in both (don’t forget to plant your own too!!)

The lip balm itself is lovely, I adore the smell and I am extremely picky when it comes to lip palms or hand creams so the fact that it smells lovely and is helping the bees I am happy, I saw it being advertised on my facebook feed and I jumped at the chance to try it out but having a mild allergy to honey I was slightly worried about using it but so far, no effects so that’s good.

I also took advantage of the two £1 offer that they offered and got a tube of body lotion and a tube of cleansing cream..

The body lotion is milk and honey and smells amazing, I have something similar in a larger scale (but in the Baby Bee range) and I use that daily but cannot fit it into my bag so now I have a handy sized tube for travel and the deep cleansing cream is Soap bark and chamomile, like everything it smells lovely,

I have never used cleansing cream up until now and I actually like, and as I said before because of my allergic reaction to honey, I am always a little dubious about using things that contain honey, but thankfully no horrible reactions… to be honest its a oral allergic reaction and I am not about to chow down on a lip balm and some creams… regardless of how delicious they smell!

All the ingredience are vegan friendly and the lip balm is made from 100% natural products and parts of the packaging is recyclable but I am not sure what parts

Would I recommend them: YES!! I always recommend Burts Bees products to everyone I meet, from their baby bee products and to now their lip balms, and when buying anything by Burts Bees you are of course helping out one of the most important creatures, the humble Bee..

Don’t forget to take your Selfless Selfie and share it on you social media’s using all the hashtags to help out with the campaign and if you have a garden plant as many bee friendly flowers as possible, I know when I finally have a garden of my own its going to be full of Lavender, all the houses outside my flat have lots of it in their gardens and every day when I go past on the school run, they are covered in happy bees collecting their nectar.

You can read up about what more you can do for our local bees here

Here is my selfless Selfie … don’t judge!!

Until next time, keep protecting the Bees

So, I decided to take the plunge and try out a different monthly makeup subscription box, as you are probably are aware I’ve been subscribed to Birchbox since the start of January but while browsing Facebook I saw Glossybox had a coupon code to try their box for the first month so.. how could I say no?

and as you can see, I got a lovely selection of goodies for this month! the little booklet is a few chapters from the upcoming book Wilde Like Me by Louise Pentland which is due to be released on June 29th so you still have time to preorder a copy, the few chapters are really interesting so I may go and pick that up when I manage to get into town! go check it out.

First up in the box we have dry hairspray by Batiste, I live for dry hairspray and I am forever running low of the stuff (any mother of more than one will probably understand hah) but this one is for heat and shine to protect your hair from the heat and styling which is fantastic! I don’t often use my straighteners but now when I do I can relax that my hair will have some form of heat protection. best dry hairspray ever!

Up next we have Eness exotic Africa argan oil hand cream, and from experience with from when I was working in a newsagents, one can never have to many hand creams! this hand cream smells absolutely divine, it reminds me of children’s sun cream and has made my hands wonderfully soft.. plus it is made by a cruelty free company which is a plus!

Up next is a contour pencil, I see all over Instagram people using tape and spoons and whatever they can get their hands on to contour their face to make it look slimmer, which literally only works if you are looking at someone dead on, I personally don’t understand contouring and frankly am to terrified of doing it myself, if they turn out how my eyebrows look half the time then i doubt ill be able to ‘blend’ the brown in correctly and look like I’ve let my baby smudge chocolate on my face haha! so consider  me not a fan of contouring

Now time for some illuminator from Manna ,  this is the first time Ive actually used an illuminator and I actually like it, it adds a subtle pink tint to my regular foundation and creates a nice shimmer look on bare skin, the only issue is this is step 3 and I am unsure about the other steps but I have defiantly added it to my regular makeup.

Up next I have some all in one primer by Thisworks, I had a tiny bottle of primer a while ago and found my face was much better after using it before applying my makeup, so I am super happy to have another bottle to use, and a much better one too, Primers from what I am aware (makeup newbie) are used to prime the face before makeup.. it smells lovely and has quickly gone into my makeup bag!

and lastly we have a beautiful browny red lip crayon, I don’t usually wear lipsticks much but when I do I tend to lean towards the darker shades than lighter so this is right up my street, I adore the color on and have used it a few times since I received my box the other day.

All in all this was a great box, I am glad I saw the promotional codes and picked it up and I think I will definitely keep up this subscription month to month to add to this makeup newbies now overflowing bag!
